The Dirndl Sarah is wearing is made by Fuchs-Trachtenmoden. The company was founded by Ludger Fuchs and is located in Roding, close to Cham in Bavaria, Germany. The company says its their philosophy "to transform traditional clothes from former times into a modern version of traditional clothing". For Fuchs-Trachtenmoden it is important to see in the word “Tracht” the word “tragen” which means “wearing” – So they want us to wear traditional Trachten today and they will sell us the modern Tracht for it.
Sarah brought her dress for about 140€ at Muna, a shop in Freudenstadt, Germany.
Sarah loves the traditions of the south of Germany and she is willing to invest a lot of money into a dress like a Dirndl. She told me she is willing to buy a Dirndl each year. At least twice a year, she has an occasion to wear them, which is why she wants so many of them.
The company Fuchs-Trachtenmoden does not say anything about its way of production. I wrote an e-mail and asked them if they could let me know about it. But so far there is no answer. So if they change their mind - I would be happy!
The German company is registered in Roding, Bavaria close to the Czech border, which might be a hint that the production takes place there. But this is only a suggestion and in the fashion industry you get so surprised about which ways a fashion production goes. - In good and bad ways.
A nice article about a selection of fairly produced Dirndls you will find here
